Using Obscured Glass For Your Next Project

Obscured glass – whether frosted or patterned – has the primary purpose of providing privacy while still allowing light to penetrate through. Its versatility and aesthetic interest make it the ideal glass product for a variety of uses. We look at a few possible options that can be included in your next project in your residence or even in a commercial or office space.

  1. In the Bathroom

In a space where both privacy and good lighting are highly valued, the bathroom is the ideal place where obscured glass can be put to good use. Glass is a good material given the damp and humid environment of the bathroom, as cleaning is easy. It is also a great product if space is at a premium, as the streamline and modern appearance of glass works well in small spaces.

For the purpose of privacy, obscured glass can be put into various uses. The shower enclosure is possibly the top choice of use, giving full privacy without losing light. Windows are also an ideal place for obscured glass in the bathroom, for the same reasons of privacy and brightness. In this case, only silhouettes will be visible from the outside.

  1. Glass Doors or Partitions in the Workplace

Obscured glass doors are a great addition to an office or meeting room. Partial obscurity allows portions of glass partitions or doors to be opaque while other parts are clear, thus providing privacy but at the same time, allowing co-workers know that the room may be occupied.

  1. Glass Balustrades

Both indoors and outdoors, glass balustrades can be made with obscured glass. This might work to not only provide privacy but also to obscure a less than desirable view.

  1. Glass Shelves and Surfaces

Add visual interest in your home by using obscured glass on furniture, from floating shelves to tabletops.

  1. Glass Backsplash

Glass makes an excellent backsplash in the kitchen, protecting your walls from grime, grease and water splashes. It is a hard-working material perfect for the hardest working room in your house. Without grout-lines, and 100 percent waterproof, glass makes cleaning easy while looking great, especially if you introduce a modern frosted look.
